Network & VoIP Engineer

Reports to: Head of Professional Services

Location: Manchester

Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm (Or alternative shift), 60-minute lunch break.

Salary: Competitive (DOE)

Focus of the role:

This is an exciting and challenging role for an enthusiastic candidate who is motivated to learn and advance their technical knowledge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the on-site configuration and installation of new switches, firewall/routers, servers and the related security features of such technologies to a high level of customer satisfaction. The engineer will assist in the deployment of new cloud-based VoIP solutions for BCN with a view to taking the lead on such deployments as they become more experienced.

There are many opportunities for growth, upskilling and progression for an engineer who is looking to advance their career in any of the areas that BCN currently deliver. Excellent customer facing skills and a drive and desire to visit customer sites are requirements of the role.

Core Requirements:

Technical requirements include:

  • Core networking skills (DHCP, DNS)
  • Router/firewall configuration (ideally one of WatchGuard/Fortigate)
  • Switch configuration and patching (ideally HP Aruba)
  • Familiarity and/or a desire to learn and deploy cloud-based VoIP solutions


Desirable Skills:

Prior experience with the below technologies will be highly beneficial and accelerate the engineer’s advancement in the role:

  • Windows Sever 2012 through 2019
  • Basic understanding of virtualisation (Hyper-V or VMware)
  • Active Directory or Azure AD management
