Using AI as an accelerator in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Posted 11th August 2023

Microsoft’s recent survey identified that almost 90% of workers hope to use AI to reduce repetitive tasks in their job. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot enables users to perform their day-to-day work with the assistance of cutting-edge AI by their side. With Copilot in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, customers can benefit from AI tools to get more done with less effort.

With the latest release wave of D365 Business Central (2023 Release Wave 2), Microsoft are expanding on the first round of Copilot capabilities. Alongside what Microsoft are doing, at BCN we’re also updating our product sets to introduce AI capabilities that will help our evo-supply users with their everyday tasks.

Marketing Text

Business Central’s first Copilot feature, marketing text suggestions, moves from public preview to being generally available. Product characteristics such as colour, material, and size can be leveraged to quickly and easily write compelling product descriptions for online shops. You can further customise the descriptions by selecting the length, format, and tone of voice. Customers of Business Central who use Shopify can quickly and easily post the products with descriptions to their Shopify store.

This wave of updates includes:

  • Various quality improvements that address customer feedback.
  • Support for more languages beyond English.
  • Use of marketing text on the Price List report.
  • Improved discoverability from within the web client.
  • Improvements to content moderation.

Bank Account Reconciliation

Organisations must import bank statements and reconcile transactions with bank ledger entries to ensure that all client payments, refunds, and purchases are properly recorded. While Business Central currently minimises effort through automated transaction matching, the residual work to handle unmatched transactions each week is often time-consuming and soon adds up to wasted workdays. Copilot reduces bookkeeping effort by improving transaction matching and explaining any proposed matches in natural language.

The bank account reconciliation feature in Business Central has been enhanced with:

  • AI-powered transaction matching that further improves automation and reduces the remaining unmatched transactions that require human oversight.
  • AI-generated explanations for how remaining transactions could be matched, making it easier for bookkeepers to complete the account reconciliation task by simply reviewing and approving matches.

Evo-supply enabling AI

Here at BCN we’ve been busy starting to enable AI functionality within our evo-supply product suite to help our users with their day-to-day tasks.

Extended Item Descriptions

We’ve enabled our ‘Extended Description’ feature to leverage the Business Central marketing text functionality, giving the ability to create extended product descriptions for use on outward facing documents such as invoices and e-mails. By using additional Evo-supply information positive, rich text descriptions can be created at the click of a button!

Product Lifecycle Management

Our soon to be released Product Lifecycle Management application will also allow the creation of the extended descriptions, that will feed into the item if your design item makes it to production.

Imagine being able to get a mock-up of your new items before your designers have got to work. Using the data you have entered in your design item, we enable just that!

More to follow

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! We’ve got lots of plans for time saving AI features over the coming months. Keep an eye out for our new release announcements and future blogs.
