Geographic Solutions specialises in developing and maintaining next generation online software for a wide range of organisations, including public sector pension funds, HR and recruitment providers, education establishments and insurance businesses. With ambitious plans to expand its global footprint, it needed a reliable partner to help build out its Azure environment and meet the UK’s stringent cyber security standards.
Cyber Essentials is a UK Government’s scheme to help businesses protect themselves against cyber-attacks and hackers.
The scheme gives your organisation a framework of five standard yet essential security controls: Firewalls, Secure Configuration, User Access Control, Malware Protection and Patch Management.
With more than 55 million individuals registered on its platforms, 1.56 billion jobs posted since its launch and 466.3 terabytes of data stored across its hosted sites, Geographic Solutions is a serious business, trusted with handling massive amounts of data and communications for its customers.
Its reputation for reliability is core to its success, so when it decided to break into the UK and Europe, it needed to ensure the same high level of security and protection from cyber attacks – particularly to satisfy government tenders.
After a referral from Microsoft followed by a competitive process, BCN was selected as Geographic Solutions’ UK partner, both to set up the business’s Microsoft Azure tenant, but to help secure its accreditations under UK security requirements.
Cyber Essentials is a UK government backed scheme designed to help organisations protect themselves against common online threats and demonstrate a commitment to cyber security for customers and suppliers.
As a Cyber Essentials Certification Body, BCN takes businesses through the process of getting certified.
Geographic Solutions wanted to achieve Cyber Essentials Plus status – a higher level of security that involves internal and external tests of an organisation’s network and devices.
Working with Geographic Solutions US and European teams, BCN took the burden of Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation away from the business; undertaking the certification process and walking the business through the requirements step by step.
While Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation can take several months to process, BCN had Geographic Solutions up and running, with its certification in place in just eight weeks.
The teams continue to work together on Geographic Solutions’ UK Azure set up, but the early success of the project and the two teams’ strong working dynamic has led to the exploration of opportunities to pursue new joint projects.
