Microsoft Volume Licensing Discounts Changes 2025

Important update to Microsoft pricing discounts. Are you affected by the latest Microsoft changes to Volume Licensing?

The time to move to a Microsoft CSP partner could be now.

Microsoft have announced significant changes to their licensing models taking affect as of the 1st of November. These updates will impact pricing for Online Services purchased through an Enterprise Agreement (EA) or Microsoft Products and Services Agreement (MPSA).

What is changing?

Microsoft is standardising pricing across the various purchasing channels by aligning EA agreements to online pricing.  This means that volume- based discounts across EA agreements will be flattened across the four bandings (A-D). As prices for B-D will now align to Level A.

These price changes will take affect and apply at your renewal date post 1st November 2025

This price change applies to Microsoft Online Services only.

This is part of the changes Microsoft are putting into place to simply all their licensing programmes, however this may result in price increases for certain customers.

Which Customers Will Be Impacted by These Changes?

These changes affect all commercial customers and most government organisations purchasing Microsoft Online Services through the following agreements:

  • Enterprise Agreement (EA) via Enterprise Enrollment, Enterprise Subscription Enrollment, and Server and Cloud Enrollment.
  • Microsoft Products and Services Agreement (MPSA).

Education customers are not impacted by this update.

For both commercial and government customers, any price-protected SKUs will remain unchanged until the current enrolment or subscription expires. The new pricing will apply:

  • At the renewal of your agreement, or
  • When a new Online Service is ordered after 1st November 2025.

What should you do?

To prepare for the upcoming changes, it’s important to start by reviewing your current Microsoft licensing agreement to understand if and when these updates will affect you. This will help you anticipate any pricing adjustments and plan your budget and forecasting accordingly. Additionally, consider exploring alternative licensing models such as the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) programme, which may offer better value, increased flexibility, and enhanced support options tailored to your organisation’s needs.
