AI in Healthcare Companies

How Does AI In Healthcare Companies Work?

From workforce shortages to rising costs and increasing patient care demands, clinical staff in healthcare companies are overburdened with workloads. This is where generative AI can help: it offers a potential solution to these challenges by automating administrative tasks, analysing vast amounts of data for actionable insights, and assisting healthcare professionals in decision-making.

As a Microsoft Cloud Solutions Partner, we are equipped with the knowledge and expertise to help you implement AI into your healthcare systems. With access to Microsoft’s most advanced AI capabilities, we can offer you guidance through every step of the AI adoption process.

Enhance Healthcare With Microsoft’s AI Capabilities

Microsoft is launching a public preview of its healthcare agent service for Microsoft Copilot Studio – the Azure Health Bot. This platform offers a complete set of tools and features for building powerful, connected agents. The new healthcare agent service lets users create safer healthcare agents using generative AI and a specialised healthcare stack.

Customers can now build their own agents with reusable, healthcare-specific features, pre-built healthcare intelligence from trusted sources, along with templates and pre-built healthcare use cases. It includes cutting-edge healthcare-specific chat, clinical, and compliance safeguards to ensure these agents meet industry standards and address safety concerns.

This service empowers healthcare organisations to develop their own generative AI agents for patients and clinicians, supporting a range of uses: from appointment scheduling and clinical trial matching to patient triaging and more. Furthermore, it allows organisations to extend their agents with plugins, regardless of where the plugins were built.

The Azure Health Bot gives healthcare developers the tools to build and deploy AI-powered, compliant, and conversational healthcare experiences at scale. It uses a built-in medical database alongside natural language processing to understand clinical terms, and it’s easily customisable to fit your organisation’s specific clinical needs. The service is designed to meet industry compliance and is privacy-protected based on strict data privacy and security laws such as the GDPR.

Commitment To Responsible AI in Healthcare Companies

Healthcare is a unique industry that impacts people’s health and wellbeing. Generative AI has to take into account issues like fabrications, omissions, and inaccurate answers as they carry more weight to address and need to be handled in a way that is specific to the needs of the healthcare industry. To address these needs, Microsoft has added new healthcare-specific safeguards for generative AI within the Azure Health Bot services.

The safeguards include:

1. Clinical safeguards

Clinical safeguards such as healthcare-adapted filters and quality checks allow verification of clinical evidence associated with answers, identifying hallucinations and omissions in generative answers, credible sources enforcement, and more.

2. Healthcare chat safeguards

These safeguards include customisable AI-related disclaimers that are incorporated into the chat experience presented to users, enabling the collection of end-user feedback, and analysing the engagement through built-in dedicated reporting, as well as healthcare-adapted abuse monitoring.

3. Healthcare-adapted compliance controls

These controls look like built-in Data Subject Rights (DSRs), pre-built consent management, out-of-the-box audit trails, and more.

In the ever-changing healthcare landscape, Microsoft is committed to the development of advanced, responsible AI to revolutionise patient and provider experiences. Using the Azure AI Health Bot, now enhanced with generative AI and healthcare safeguards, healthcare organisations can develop health data services, transform the experiences of both medical professionals and patients, uncover new insights with the power of machine learning and AI, and manage protected health information (PHI) securely. Prepare your data for the future of healthcare innovation with the Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare.
